The handle of a Turn & Tilt Window has 3 modes. When the handle is 

• pointing down, the window is closed and locked;
• pointing horizontally, the window turns and swings open just like a door pivoting on either the left or right frame;
• pointing up, the window tilts inwards at the top to allow for air flow without opening the window all the way.
